One of the best DNB releases of all time, and also one best Bad Company tunes of all time, The Pulse really is something. It begins with an ambient intro with nice 80's style pad sounds and then comes the killer synth lead which builds up before the bass drops and sends you nuts. One of those really awesome tunes that will just get stuck in your head over and over again.

The flipside is also one of Bad Company's best work. Loud distorted bass riffs with "The Nine" style drums. I feel like this and The Code's basslines are quite similar, as Bad Company likes to rework tracks. Seizure is similar to The Nine, Planet Dust is similar to The Pulse and China Cup is similar to The Code.

Overall fantastic release from the drum and bass masters.

China Cup FTW on this imho, but respect the flip that's become a staple classic for nigh' on 2 decades..... 4/5 and you really are getting your money's worth considering my copy back then was over a £5er & worth every penny.

Totally deadly. Possibly my favourite era of DnB mainly because of this kind of sound. Still makes me pull faces when i hear it. Both sides deserve to be A side.

Always did prefer China Cup. All my mates used to go on about The Pulse (a good tune, don't get me wrong) and play it in all their sets, where as I on the other hand would drop China Cup and consequently feel like a bad man for doing so lol. Good times.

Not that great. Drums are too much like every other track of the time, "The Nine", in particular. Future Forces was waaaaaaaaaay better, as were Fresh n Vegas.

"Pulse" was THE drum & bass track of 1999. The buzz was like nothing ever seen before in D&B; greater than when Ed Rush & Op came through. This was the next level of an era of D&B started by Trace, etc. with the tech-step movement. Great build up, fantastically dark, ahead of its time, moody, atmospheric, and made by four passionate people – there's a palpable hunger in this track.

Great vinyl- both sides killer tunes, as was often the case with Prototype vinyls- definitely Bad Company in their prime, China Cup on the B side was often overlooked but certain DJ's used to know about it- Randall in particular dropped it in most of his sets at one point and it always went down really well with the crowds..
