Currently in my top 3 UK 'acid' tracks from '88, along with Humanoid and Jesus Loves The Acid, although there's Acid Love too, hmmm ...
Wondering, while cataloguing my '88 house jams, where the vut-vut-vut 'acid scratch' that comes in 2/3's way thru Oochy Koochy first appeared - was it a Baby Ford conception? (Also features, more heavily, in Sex4Daze) Wicked sound regardless, that goes for the whole track - essential acid, no doubt!

more genius acid from Mr.Ford featuring those great 'yeah!' vocal samples from 'man who fell to earth'.

Quite easy to tell which one is the "raw" version and which isn't: the first presses don't have a picture of a little ear with a line through it on the back. The reason for this? Simple. Apparently the bassline on the first press wasn't actually EQ'd properly, and was WAY too heavy. The first time it was played out over a big system (at Heaven IIRC) it blew the speakers. Rhythm King records, fearing that they'd get sued by angry club owners, remixed the track and issued a second sleeve with the "watch your ears!" logo.

At the time of release - 1988, this was without a doubt the best Acid house track that came out of the Britain. Some still say this is the best UK Acid track ever. Its the mindlessness of the samples, the heavy kick drum, mixed with superb use of the 303. The flip tracks are also outstanding, Flowers, captures the whole Acid house movement of the late 80's in the UK. Oochy Koochy Still sounding fresh today makes it a Classic. Oh and it really does blow your speakers...

This first original pressing is far better than the re-released version with "Flowers" track on b side. It's very similar to the other one but with a difference : there is the fat "acid" bassline that evolves during all the track wich makes the difference & i think too this is a more "Raw" version that gives here a best result.
