Wow! I feel blessed to have lived during the golden age of House. Classics like this remind me of such amazing times. The minute I heard this, I ran to Peaches Records in Miami and grabbed the CD single. Which I still have. Now that it's ripped in high quality on my PC, I no longer have to worry about damaging it.

There is a cool story behind this song: When Louie Vega, member of the Masters At Work, recorded the vocals of Barbara Tucker for this track, he was stunned by a line that could be repeated as a loop: "Deep, deep inside. Deep, deep, down outside". He then decided to retard the parution of "Beautiful People" to be able to publish "Deep Inside" (as "Hardrive") which instantly became a popular anthem in clubs all over the world. A few months later, "Beautiful People" was received the same way by the crowds, with the "Deep Inside" sample included in the middle of the track (at least in the popular "Underground Network Mix").
The background vocals are provided by an all star group: India, Byron Stingily, Carol Sylvan (Pet Shop Boys), Connie Harvey (KLF)... and so on. Most of the remixes are decent (the "Beautiful reprise" is really nice).
This track blends gospel vocals with disco elements to a house beat. Very happy house in it's genre. The ultimate Barbara Tucker hit!
