Bassface Sascha's debut DIFFERENT FACES wears, as its first face, the jazzy visage of "Far Out (Toronto Version)," "On Stage," or "Touched by Soul," and for its second, the jungle of "Perfect Day," "Last Resort," or "Nightshifter." And, it must be said, both faces are quite pleasant, though one side does raise a lip into a little funk curl on "Rare Roads" and the other goes slack for the beatless "Like A Cigarette." There a tiny bit of blues sneer in the instrumental title track too. But too many of the faces look the same, without distinguishing features. And, unfortunately, that means this album becomes just one more face in the crowd.
