Like the Man once said, there is nothing new in the music industry..Never has been for the past couple of decades or more..
So what we have is a matter of who can steal bits and pieces out of everything to create something new,but only in terms of release.."Music" wise what exactly can be considered new?
But to even "steal" those bits and pieces from an existing canvas of elements and create something radical ,has its limitations talent-wise and that is what makes the difference from a bad album ,to a mediocre ,and to an outstanding piece of music..
The case in point here..These guys fluctuate with an extreme arrogance from Joy Division ,Christian Death ,Cure ,Mission ,Sisters of Mercy ,Misfits / Danzig and so on..
They walk the line up to the point of plagiarism..But they walk it so that you really can't blame these guys for anything except that they have created a blend of atmospheres one can only find every once in a rare while in music.
If i leave out the works of Joy Division and Cure's Pornography ,this record is the most important album of all the Dark/post/punk wave scene..Though it came a good 30 years later..It actually delivers the message this whole scene never could back then.
These guys sure didn't invent the wheel ,but they sure as hell came THAT close..
What's more to it that brings it another step closer to perfection is that Kvohst is on the vocals...I really couldn't ask for anything more..
This release will probably be my favourite for this year ,i really can't stop listening to it..Damn!!
