Bibio follows up AMBIVALENCE AVENUE with THE APPLE AND THE TOOTH, an EP, of sorts, with remixes. The title track mixes lo-fi beats with guitar and lo-fi vocals. "Rotten Rudd" cleans up the sound quality for a whirling, breaks-driven concoction, and "Bones & Skulls" slides into an easygoing folk groove. But he's not above slipping in some dubstep with "Steal The Lamp.' On the remixes, Clark puts "S'vive" into an IDM blender. Wax Stag, though, gives "Sugarette" a sweeter, 80s-touched mix, and Eskmo adds a dreamy, abstract dubstep rub to "Dwrcan," "Lovers' Carvings," as reinterpreted by Letherette takes the riff heard on DJ Cam's "Dieu Reconnaitra Les Siens" and sets it out in a sea of soul. "Haikuesque (The Gentleman Losers' Whispers In The Rain Mix)" goes for an aching ambience, and Lone brings a wooziness to "All the Flowers." But Bibio ends the album with his own mix, a careful waltz of "The Palm Of Your Wave." Bite into this apple!
