Agreeing with the previous reviewer - Bill Hamel put together two exquisite mixes. Considering that I'm writing this review exactly a decade after these mixes were released (to a day! if the date at Discogs is right), it's an amazing testament to the sets' quality. Both have great drive and emotional depth, there are certain emotional undertones to their build up, as both mixes pump and echo their way from start to end. There are moments and peaks that allow for repeated listening, moments both for the dance floor and for your headset. Where other mixes feel more like compilations of tracks across genres, with moments that seem to stick out just for the sake of it, these two mixes blend together into a unified whole where everything fits smoothly and beautifully, serving the listeners' enjoyment - something I value most in a mix.

This release is an example of what sets the best of Balance series apart - a balance of quality mixing with emotional journeys across genres offered by each DJ.

For me, this mix is up there with James Holden's, Joris Voorn's, as well as with the latest-to-date Henry Saiz's: all of these (with a couple of other ones) offer similar timeless, exhilarating and uplifting moments that are worth keeping.

Even after a decade after, it's a definite recommended buy, although it's difficult (or a bit more expensive) to come by now.

One of the best releases from the Balance series, with each track worthy of being played alone over and over again, or both CD's could be left on to repeat through a few times.
Disc 1 builds up the mood and seems to peak with Lamb's Gorecki before finishing up a great compilation with Song To The Siren by Barraka.
Disc 2 has more of the same with Headstrong by Tilt ramping up the mood, before the disc closes off with Gentle Rain (by Blackwatch and Greed) and Closing In (Redbak) winding things up with a more relaxed beat.
Disc 1 is definately the best of the two, simply for its transition from Guy Gerber & Sahar Z's Kenny's Back into Lamb's Gorecki. Brilliant.
