I don´t know if this one is the best of the great and very influential first 4 albs they released in only two years. But this one is my personal favourite.

Imo Sabbath's finest work and a fantastic album from start to finish. An essential release and way ahead of its time!

Hello, I was hoping someone could help me out here. I am 99% sure I have this pressing, which I picked up from a local second hand collector's store. I am not sure what variant I have though as none of the runout identifiers on my pressing match the ones listed here.

My pressing has the following runout identifiers:

Matrix / Runout (Runout A - Variation ?): 6360050 1Y//1▽420 1 8
Matrix / Runout (Runout B - Variation ?): 6360050 2Y//1▽420 1 2 6 (or small letter 'b'?)

In my opinion, this is Black Sabbath's BEST album, not only did this album laid the groundwork for Doom Metal, but it also laid a blueprint for Sludge Metal(sorta)and Stoner Metal with songs like Sweet Leaf, After Forever, Children Of The Grave, Lord Of This World, and Into The Void. The thing that i like a lot about this album is you can actually hear the bass, it's very audible in this album(maybe because it was down tuned from standard E to lowering it down to three tunes lower). The reason why people say it's the first Doom Metal album ever made is because of the depressing and dark topics this album talks about, like a post apocalyptic future where there are no survivors after a nuclear war except for a group of children(Children Of The Grave), a dark fiery post apocalyptic world where Satan is the LORD OF THIS WORLD, and a scenario where many people are flying off into space, trying to avoid the end of the world, and flying off into an unknown planet where they can try to find a new home(Into The Void). Honestly, i think this album is better than even Paranoid, although Paranoid is a classic, but maybe i just listened to Paranoid a bit TOO MUCH ever since i first heard of the album, but it doesn't mean it's bad, but it's still a great album. This album is definitely the first true Doom Metal album in all honestly, and it sure is an amazing album!

I think the inner sleeve used for this record is the "inverse" version of the Vertigo inner, not the one pictured here and this would also be more fitting to the black label used uniquely here!? All the UK copies I have or had use the inverse inner.
