In 1993, Ritchie Blackmore a remarkable step in his career. Decked out with a leprechaun Hat began the former star guitarist for hard rock formations Deep Purple and Rainbow a strongly by the Renaissance-influenced blend of (prog) rock, new age and folk to do, assisted by his life partner Candice Night, which the vocals. Blackmore left on the plates of his new band Blackmore's Night the electric guitar in the corner and largely limited to the acoustic guitar, in addition to ancient instruments such as the hurdy gurdy, mandola and the drums ' Renaissance '. The simple vocal lines are based on Celtic melodies and the accompanying music is strongly reminiscent of the instrumental folk rock-work (eg. In Dulci Jubilo) that Mike Oldfield produced in the late 1970s. Blackmore's Night has on the third studio-album Ghost Of A Rose a good balance between the intimacy of folk and the power of rock found, making exaggerated bombast is avoided. The combination of styles that on paper might be the eyebrows does fronzen, picks up in practice unexpectedly tasteful.
