2016 and 2019 reissues have the same sonic defects: Excessive low pass filter, resulting in significantly changed hihat sound, less airy synth pad and muffled bass. Even the YouTube-video of the original goes up till 16k, the reissue has not much left above 13k. In spectral view, missing frequencies in equal distances become obvious, so some phase cancellation is going on as well, confirming a slight suspicion I had. Furthermore, attack of the kick is completely lost, as well as 4 bars from the first 8 bars, they have been cut out. Very, very disappointing. :-( I recommend ripping the video.

My copy sounds ok. A little muddy on the mids to highs but no major problems like with the usual coloured vinyl releases. You can usually judge these by the spaces in the music, not much noise certainly not at the annoying levels (depends on your ears mine are 50 years old). The intro has a hiss on each rotation but it goes away. Sound level is loud enough and good enough to play on any club or decent bar system.

My black copy sounds fine all the way through on both sides. Maybe a little loud on the surface noise but all in all good.

Terrible pressing. Bought a sealed copy, but first playthrough revealed a persistent rhythmic crackle throughout entire duration of side 1.

got the blue version: mixed-up center labels, and honestly quite disappointing sound quality... pretty weak for an item with such a high retail price :/

Amazing Re-edit of the original masterpice, i also like very much the Danilo Barca revision, refreshing and speeding up this amazing tune. Just recived my blue copy, the sound quality is perfect. Keep o going !

Surely the fact that this sounds ridiculously like a Bee Gees vocal and the record is called Blue Gas (B.G.) This must be an obscurely sourced Bee Gees vocal?!

Just received my copy -- my ears aren't young, but I don't quite understand why someone would take issue with the sound quality of this re-issue to the point of saying 'avoid at all costs...' - perhaps the 2016/2017 copies aren't pressed the same (haven't heard them, can't speak to it) but the 2019 re-issue sounds really good to me.

Also I read a comment that says these 're-release companies' are using the same name as the original record labels which I interpret as an implication that they are somehow impostors or not the genuine article... last time I checked, Best Record Italy (the company releasing these re-issues) is managed by Claudio Casalini and I see his name on many Best Record and S.P.Q.R. original Italo-Disco 12-inch singles I own from the early 80s... he owned the record shops in Rome back in the day... Off the top of my head, I'm pretty sure his name is on the back of High Resolution, 'Sweepin' Off' from S.P.Q.R.

On the whole vinyl rip vs. master tapes thing -- sometimes those tapes are gone or in such poor condition that making a release from them isn't possible any longer. That's often why the originals in good shape command a high price, and regardless of re-issues, always should.

I would 'avoid at all costs' if you can swallow the $200+ entry fee for the original... otherwise this isn't a bad way to go.

These re-release companies using the same name as the original record labels, in this case, 'Best Record' and 'S.P.Q.R.' are NOT using the original master tapes for these 12'' re-releases. They are using original 12'' singles on vinyl, de-clicking them to the point that it badly affects the resonance on vocals and synth lines, de-noising them and overly compressing them. Therefore, that is the reason why the original versions fetch a lot of money, as once again, in this case, the re-release sounds like trash. This has happened to me on numerous occasions on these Italo re-release 12'' singles, with artists such as Blackway, High Resolution and B.W.H. - avoid at all costs.
