Supraphon Release Information

Two years of work, exceptional recording venues (the Baroque Chapel in Smiřice, the Plzeň Synagogue, and a legendary Prague pub), an extremely carefully selected and arranged repertoire. The HD quality of picture and 5.1 Dolby Digital sound guarantee a tremendous listening and viewing experience. Savour this remarkable unplugged set!

The programme of the “Acoustic” DVD was compiled by Radim Hladík, Honza Křížek, Wojttech and Vašek Zima and is made up of Blue Effect classics and cover versions of songs by other Czech, as well as foreign, bands. It includes Sun Is so Bright, Je třeba obout boty a pak dlouho jít (Put on your Shoes and Walk), Má hra (My Play), Rajky (Birds of Paradise), Rainy Day and Třiatřicet (Thirty-three), as well as Flamengo’s Kuře v hodinkách (Chicken in the Watch), Depeche Mode’s Personal Jesus and Jimi Hendrix’s Little Wing.

The second DVD, “Time”, is an essential documentary about the recording and people, containing other and variant concert recordings, plus a monumental medley (clocking in at 21 minutes!), in which Bedřich Smetana, Cream, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, The Pink Panther, Yes, Bob Marley, Bob and Bobek all blend together.

The cameraman Martin Štrba, the sound engineer Radim Hladík Jr., the director Olina Kaufmanová and a host of others helped the band to transfer the magic of first-class and fascinating music into an almost three-hour-long event. The DVDs come in an elegant digipak and contain a stylish surprise inside the box.

Blue Effect unplugged, right now – and still going strong!
