Notes

Sung in Russian. Contains 24-page, LP-sized booklet including liner notes and full text in Russian and English.

Liner notes written by Gerald Abraham. Libretto by Pushkin.

Transliteration and translation (English) © 1963 by Myron Morris.

All first pages of the booklet have a small bit of text that has manually been covered with blanking paper tape. When lit from behind, the text becomes visible, reading "Recorded in co-production with Polish radio and T.V." It is not clear why this bit of text was covered (censored?) by EMI after production.

"These records were originally from mono tapes. They have been electronically reprocessed to give a stereo effect when played on stereophonic equipment."

4LP-box set is a reissue from the 1952 release.
