Brilliant album, though my (first pressing) Kranky-version of the CD doesn't contain an unlisted extra track.

Before there was Morr Music and other labels that popularized the very willing combination of shoegaze/dreampop and ambient electronica in the very late 90s and early 2000s (perhaps culminating in the release of the Slowdive cover/tribute album "Blue Skied An' Clear"), there was this album. The perfect blend of soaring, fuzzed out guitars, ambient synth work, and beats, this is clearly the pinnacle of Bowery Electric's catalog.

How can you not have this album yet? Though their self-titled debut was more organic, it was a thinner and less enveloping than Beat. The recent follow up album took the band in the opposite (wrong) direction, as the drone-rockers suddenly felt that they were hip hop producers. Nevertheless, this record is utterly, unbelievably good.
