I agree that the arrangements, band and especially the backup singers sound pretty cool on this record. That said I can help but think that Bowie himself purposefully never released this while he was alive. His voice is clearly blown out and strained. Given the jazzy/soulful approach to the music, the harshness of his vocals just don't make this a good listen for me. I'll give it a few more tries to see if it grows on me, but I truly doubt it.

Easily on my top 5 worst sounding records. Very close with woodstock 50th anniversary rsd 2019 release. Bowie 's voice in a very bad day. Not sure what the audience heard and saw that night, I suppose some of them would ask their money back. And I m a Bowie junkie.

Great vibe on this recording.
Love it unpolishness, also the arrangements are wonderful.
This is most definitely a keeper.

I guess that for a cassette recording it has been cleaned up well.

Just listened to this gem for the first time and I love the lofi sound and the way Bowie's voice sounds a bit hoarse. This version of "Rock and Roll With Me" is much better than the one on "David Live". I really hope this LP will find its way to streaming services. Would love to hear it at work or in the car. (Don't want to pay another 22 Euros for the CD)

On first few listens to this album I was left feeling a little disappointed more so with sound quality than anything else. But being a life long Bowie fan it grew on me. It reminded me that the best Bowie albums have to be worked at and listened to on numerous occasions then it hits you. It’s a great live album and a phase in Bowie’s career that deserves to be out there for all to enjoy. Save the best till last. I am so glad now that Parlophon didn’t play around with the sound. Better still it sounds nothing like David Live. All good stuff. Buy a copy sit back and enjoy David Bowie in 1974

Its lofi in parts but his band is in top form and some of the arrangements are not only unique to this recording but incredible (changes for example). One reviewer mentioned a horse voice and he does seem less dynamic than david live or cracked actor.
If you're in it for the historical aspect/love his young americans era material as much as i do, this is for you. If you're looking for a strong performance from this tour, David live may be the best thing out there at the moment.

Great recording! It's not audiophile class by any means, but it is so much energy! The sax parts is in no way as disturbing as some others seem to think! Great buy! 5 stars!

Best Bowie release since Cracked Actor, in some ways better. Even after death Bowie ceases to surprise me every year or so. But agree with the guy below the sax parts are kinda ehh

Ugh. The 70s saxophone is killing me. It’s like listening to the open of Saturday Night Live for 90 minutes. This is not a keeper.
