Familiar Shapes and Noises follows in the Study Series, this being the fourth single. Broadcast and The Focus Group are Inside Out with their experimental offering on side A. Haunting and reversed in motion until it reverts to the correct direction only to twist again into mayhem. I like the progression into a drum track nearer the end leaving you wondering where you are.
Side B is made of two recordings following on from Inside Out. In the kitchen playing with the condiments until you hear the stuttering bassline emanate from Broadcasts haunting vocal; ghostly reversed vocal from a stone circle somewhere in seventies television land. The second track bleeps into life stumbling on its way reversing into pianos and witches chants – these are Familiar Shapes and Noises, just inside your head.
