"Out On The Plinth (NYDX Mix)" IMO is the best thing from this 12" release. Quite underrated probably too.

I'm pretty sure I remember being introduced to it via Mary Anne Hobbs' BBC Radio 1 show "The Breezeblock" –which was one of several great BBC radio shows I used to listen to during the mid-late 1990's– where she played things that could loosely be termed downtempo, with non-mainstream dance music, and dance-influenced rock stuff, much along the lines of the "Big Beat" dance music scene that was all the rage at the time, but also featuring other interesting electronic nichés.

The Big Beat scene was lead by the likes of Norman Cook (aka Fatboy Slim) and his "Big Beat Boutique" club and the label Skint (both in Brighton), and the The Chemical Brothers at the "Heavenly Sunday Social" club (see series: "Live At The Social") and label Heavenly Recordings (both in London), amongst many others.

The track also features on an interesting mix CD from the great Faze Action, titled "Through The Skies", which is worth checking out in itself.

Criminal how this never got the props it deserved!

"Out On The Plinth (NYDX Mix)" is one of the most underrated tracks ever. Pure mid to late nineties deep house, would've been right at home on Glasgow Underground, Toko, Paper, etc...Check It! ;-)
