A must have at the time of this release. reissued in excellent audio quality to my delight (especially when you see the price of the 1999 edition)

Great groovy house record. I love it more and more as time goes by. Maybe not as relentless and pristine as Daft Punk's 'Homework', but also less monotonous and definitely as sexy.

Huge record that's way underrated imo. French touch at its most beautiful moments. This LP deserves the same recognition as Daft Punk's 'Homework' and to a certain extent 'Pansoul' by Motorbass.

While I must say Cassius' 1999 album is a good foray into the French House genre that was booming at the time, I must say that this album is pretty overrated. It's not terrible, but it's definitely not the pillar of French House that everyone makes it to be. Sure, there are some classic cuts here, such as Cassius 1999, Cassius 99 (Remix), Foxxy, Feeling For You, and Nulife, there are other tracks on here that are simply so boring they'll put you to sleep.

I feel that this album suffers from an overabundance of tracks. 16 is way too much, and a lot of the album suffers because of it. The whole album has a bit of a laid-back feel, and the singles don't really reflect the rest of the album. The album seems to do a bit too much at once, it tries to market as danceable music and still be chilled like Etienne de Crecy's work. Tracks like Crazy Legs, Chase, Planetz, Mister Eveready, Somebody, Interlude, and Invisible are really unnecessary, and are so relaxed that they're to the point of un-listenable. They put the album at a really slow pace, and 1999 hurts from it.

In my opinion, if 1999 didn't have all this filler, and was condensed to a more realistic 10-11 tracks, it'd be much better overall. But as a whole, Cassius' singles overrate this album greatly.

Absolutely stunning full length offering with several stand out and uptempo tracks mixed in with chiller and downtempo offerings. This Record moves gracefully back and forth from chopped up cartoon samples and stuttering french production to ultra chill smokin' hip hop beats and is in this respect quintessentially french. Imagine an afternoon at the cafe sipping wine or strong coffee followed by a wild evening out at Respect. This record received a great deal of hype at the time and rightfully so. Some have mused at it being the 'pop version of French House' but that seems unfair. This record clearly holds it own alongside other offerings from French Crews(ie Etienne De'Crecy and Super Discount)and as an album is just as well rounded. This record still does not sound dated and has "great legs".
