Tracks 1-8 (or 'Side A' on the original 1989 vinyl release) is a masterpiece of piano and ambient music; one of Gigi Masin's best works. I could list favorite tracks but it really is incredible from beginning to end. Track 9 (or 'Side B') is a haunting drone piece by Charles Hayward, and while I do appreciate it and its themes, it's completely overshadowed by the brilliance Gigi Masin pulled off on the other side.

This original record had a very limited release. Due to that and Gigi Masin's recent (and long-awaited) surge in popularity, it fetches somewhere between $500-$1000 in near-mint condition. After an abysmally poor repress by Modern Classics this year, this CD release remains the best way to listen to the album without breaking your bank account. I am unsure of the source they used (possibly cassette?), but you can hear that a lot of care went into it with very minimal noise. This is the version I personally listen to on my MP3 player when I'm not listening to a needledrop I obtained of the original record in my living room. Phenomenal release and print. Thank you, P-Vine!
