All music and words written, performed and produced by Charles Hayward. Engineered by Martin Pavey. Recorded and mixed July and September 1989 at Silent Music (by the river Thames), London.
These five recent compositions of Charles Hayward were inspired by the last paintings of Mark Rothko - haunted by the relationship between dark and colored masses - and the rush of feeling, both physical and spiritual, that they generate, the composer is revealed here in all his blinding depths. Skew-Whiff remains nonetheless an unceasing homage to Greenwich, the ancient maritime spirit, white cliffs and open seas. A tribute to the black and slow waters of the Thames.
