[...] From the first seconds of 'Clinamen', you'll know where you're heading. As gently as this song starts, after a few seconds you'll be drenched in an awe-inspiring pool of fuzzed out guitars and dynamic drums. From then on, Charun maintain their immersive grip on the listener, beautifully alternating calm passages with heavy, distorted outburst. Sometimes, both opposites even come together, resulting in pure sonic bliss. 'De Brevitate Vitae' follows that example and expands it by increasing the level of atmosphere.

'Divina Voluptas' thrives a bit more on the stoner doom sound, reminding me of something between Monkey 3, Cult Of Luna and Pallbearer. That being said, doom metal certainly seemed to have had its influence on Charun. I frequently found myself headbanging, very slow but still, I don't often bang my head to post rock. The amalgamation of these slow but powerful genres is pretty much always fantastic, and Charun is no different. So yes, this is a great album which certainly deserves a place on your post rock shelve. [...]
