Singer/guitarist Chris Rea scored his first hit in 1978 with Fool (If You Think it's Over) and managed in the years that followed to present themselves with a recognizable melancholic style. His bluesy, ' laidback ' music was never spectacular, but always possessed high enough quality to a loyal fan base to tie to him. Road To Hell (1989) is considered his best record, and successful singles like Josephine, On The Beach and especially the Christmas song Driving Home For Christmas insured him a carefree old age. After a rather serious illness, which he had to remain in bed, the only time began at Rea weather the blood to itch for a new plate. The blues is on Stony Road more than ever Central, in addition to his love for gospel. Chris Rea lets his guitar cry as usual and his husky voice shows itself once again a special instrument. Little startling? Agreed, but for whom there is sensitive, works that particular melancholic atmosphere still addictive. The additional cd contains seven extra songs and a mini documentary with live images of the Montreux Jazz Festival.
