it's the best Christian Death since "Insanus, Ultio, Proditio, Misericordiaque" for me. The work of Maitri on her voice is very important, and it's paying, for the first time I like her voice.

In my humble opinion, this album is a triumph. The songs are incredibly strong, making it perhaps the most consistent record in Christian Death's vast discography. All the quintessential CD elements are there: thought-provoking lyrics, lush orchestrations and arrangements, exotic percussive flourishes and deliciously dark atmospheres. However, as always with this band, these are put together in a fresh and exciting way. Valor's voice glows with melody and emotion, the bass pulsates, whilst the guitars soar heavenwards. Maitri's singing sounds better than ever, and Valor's violin, viola and cello playing prove that he is still the number one purveyor of strings on the "alternative" scene. The whole thing is kicked along by snaking rhythms, courtesy of Jason. No other artist continues to impress, engage and excite after more than 30 years of existence in the same way as Christian Death. That, in itself, is an immense achievement that demands respect. I remain entranced by Christian Death and their art. Simply incomparable. Simply beautiful. Simply brilliant.

The best Christian Death album in devil knows how many years. Up there with the works from the 80s-90s, at last Valor got back to what he is best at, atmospheric dark goth rock. Surprise.
