Some good electro tracks on here, the string sounds are what do it for me, very hauting and memorable. A pain in the ass to sit in the chair to listen to on vinyl because some tracks are 33 and others are 45 on the same side, so you have to hop up and switch the speed on the turntable.

Classic IDM electro in the classic style: crisp rhythms, icy melodies. "Peace of Mind" exemplifies this to a tee, skating, as it does, over a gelid landscape while the cracks form underneath. "Percentages" is slightly slower and has a warmer Detroit-electro vibe, but "Resonation" gets the tempo back up and the robots back in action so that they can boogie in "Tria." Meanwhile, "Baudrillards Supper" seems to have an internal battle between atonal mystery and smooth resolution. He excels when his tracks are moody, like the slowly twisting "Section" or the piano-driven thoughtfulness of "You Not Me" that suddenly busts a groove. That's not to say that his other tracks are bad -- "Mono" is like a laser battle in outer space -- but they don't have the same impact. "Back" and "Contact" tries to merge the two, each with a pounding 4/4 and quiet synths, but in both cases, the acid overcomes the subtle. "Chicago" achieves this synthesis much better, and "Nobody" continues the cold thump. "Your Trophy" takes the album out on a mellow note. Good stuff.

Claro Intelecto's debut album, is well and truly worthy of the hype surrounding it. Included on the cd version are tracks from the two ep's, Peace Of Mind, and Section. Peace Of Mind is the first track, an electro classic with it's emotive Rhodes keys and addictive bassline. Baudrillards Supper reminds me of Murcof, with it's haunting piano. Nobody, is lush techno at it's finest, and brings to mind the works of Stasis, and John Beltran. Without a duff track in sight, Neurofibro is sure to appeal to fans of Underground Resistance, Warp's Artificial Intelligence series, and good electronic music in general. I used to think he was overrated, but now I'm addicted.
