Twenty years old and still a relevant and hugely engaging mix. It should be noted that this was not a two turntables live mix as suggested but rather one of the first computer edited mixes using a number of tape edits spliced together in a multi track studio. For the story go to the Quietus and read about how it was done. A pioneering mix that took technology forward and demonstrated that technology is a great tool but its all about drawing together the right tunes.

Bought my cassette the week it came out- still not a mix out there that can rival the selection & the imagination. No words can sum this up. Its a shame we are accompanied by a new generation of "skippers" (non listeners that will just skip through a mix looking for quick highlights, blissfully unaware of the rewards that await the relaxed patient listener & completely missing everything) however thats what makes this "strikly" (Kev) for true music lovers. Just look at that track selection! 250/10.

Absolute technical masterpiece! Feels way ahead of its time. Going in and out of different tempos. Unbelievably good mixing. Get it now!

Probably one of the finest mix tapes ever made. Has Photek's alia Truper - Streetbeats vol 2 a side as the intro track..enough said.

This dj mix lets the listener enter a world of music that for the most part, he or she would not easily be concerned about.
So many styles are displayed that 'shouldn't' work together but in this context, actually do. It's like a musical equivalent of a pizza - there are certain toppings that you wouldn't normally touch, but mixed with others that you do like, it's fine.
Jonathan More & Matt Black are geniuses with a wealth of musical knowledge behind them gained from years of pirate radio and warehouse parties. It was only a matter of time before this Journey was travelled.

This really is one of the best CD's in my collection. (It really is that good!) The mix starts with a brooding rhythim before going into some deep amens courtesy of The Truper (aka Photek) and swifly moves from breaks, (Plastikman, Coldcut) to Hip Hop, (BDP) and into some luscious female vocals (Joanna Law). All with some of the best samples and scratches thrown in along the way.
Just one word of warning. Don't try and track these records down as most of them won't sound as good as they do on here. (My personal opinion of course)
Absolutely Essential.

I've still never heard any mix come close to this. The technical quality, tune selection, variety, incidentals and samples are all on the button, but Coldcut have something more. They do not merely mix, they perform alchemy, and the result is ten times the sum of its parts. Everyone should hear this, no matter what style of music they normally listen to.

Hands down one of the best mixes EVER!!!!! Warm, fuzzy, funky, freaky, stony- the mix between the Gescom and MAW is mindblowing, not to mention Luke Slater's strings fading into the outro...Thanks Radio FG for playing this whole CD back in the day- still have it on tape!

It's hard to believe that this mix is ten years old, it left me absolutely shell shocked when I first heard it and it still excites today. Despite featuring several records at the wrong speed, all sorts of random samples, and even the Dr Who theme it never feels like it's resorting to stunts. The choice of tracks is genuinely original and unlike many 'cut and paste' mixes the whole thing flows superbly from start to finish. One of the few mix albums that can be considered a genuine classic.

Probably the stand out mix of the series. Very cut n paste type mixing. I'm quite sure I read somewhere they did this mix in one hit. If you like Shadow or Yoda - give this mix a listen
