Only 99 copies pressed (to avoid UK tax).
First catalog number on sleeve, second on labels (and runouts).
IMPORTANT
The LP when made, did not fit into the sleeves without breaking the seams, this is really the only fault, but as it was done in it's manufacture, its not exactly a fault, Therefore, this LP should come with a 2nd generic plain white sleeve, which does actually house the record, This is also the original 2nd sleeve that came with the LP.

Found during my web research, and with glowing reviews in some places, these are really just borderline prog, or "so-so beat psych pop" as per my notes, and more for those that like the songwriter / poppy end of he genre. Actually, this debut is pretty basic and nowhere near as developed as their second "The Way We Feel". If you were expecting something truly psychedelic or prog, this is likely to disappoint.

So are any of these reissues from the tapes, or just needledrops with noise reduction??

After some initial personnel changes, in early 1970 the line-up consisted of Brian, Tony (Shakespeare) and Lance with the addition of Steve Coe on keyboards. They were based in Blackpool in North-West England. In November 1970 they cut their first album, entitled simply "Complex".
Originally devised as a demonstration record (demo) for bringing the band to the attention of major record companies for the purpose of obtaining a recording contract, it was recorded at "107 Studio" in St. Annes, engineered and mixed down by Graham Atkinson. 99 (vinyl) copies of the album were pressed by Craighall Studios in Scotland. The reason for such a limited release was the imposition of Purchase Tax on quantities greater than 99.
The album went on to become quite famous in "psych" album circles - "... one of the 'Holy Trinity' items of rare British psychedelia ..." recently fetching £10000 on eBay for each copy. An unauthorised bootleg was made in 1991 but the quality was poor.
