if i had to pick five records from my collection and burn the rest, this would definitely be one to keep. crawling and hungry brings tears in my eyes and makes me question everything thats going on in this fucked up world these days.

Anyone rating "Crawling And Hungry" less than 6/5 clearly needs to rethink their life.

I picked this up for £0.50 in a bargain bin in Leeds in early 2001. I remember being sat on the train home, looking through the bags of records I bought, pulling this out of the sleeve to find that one side had been drawn on with what looked like a key or screwdriver. I felt sick. I'd managed to ID it a few months earlier but I didn't know which track it was I'd ID'd. Fortunately it was the A side which was defaced. B side was still fully playable and is still the ONE! This track more or less signalled a change in direction for 'Dub Techno' for me and there are only a handful of records since that still make me feel the same way this does. One of the few records you actually NEED in your collection.

I will not forget the first time I heard Crawling and Hungry on the Swayzak compilation in 2002. I had just got my new body style 2002 3.0 Audi A4 and soon after i took it to the stereo shop and got 1 JL W7 $950 subwoofer in the trunk with one JL 500 watt amp entirely for that 12", 65 pound magnent behemoth of a speaker. Then connected to a large capacitor saving my car battery. I was living in an apartment at the time. I had the 11 speaker Bose upgraded stereo as well. I would play the track for hours just driving around. Pulled up to my apartment as it hung over my parking space. Thought I would play it fairly loud but not obscenely loud like it could play at. On my wa up the stairs i was noticing that the bass was much louder than I thought it would be. I walked into my apartment and the bass from below was getting deeper and deeper and rolling. I knew the neighbors would be coming outside when I got back outside but at that moment I didn't care. This had to be heard!! And they were there too. I then finally felt a little embarrassed as I started to drive away and turned it down some. Till I got down the block anyways. I had heard Convextion - Convextion a few years earlier but when i heard this?! I followed Hansen ever since.

When Gerald Hanson becomes labeled a genius (if he already hasn't) then people will continue to look back at this track as the epitome of dub techno.

probably the best piece of dub/minimal/techno around. this was one of the first tracks that i had heard that lead me to discover rod model, deepchord, echospace, basic channel. if you ever get a chance to pick it up do so
