The Cosmic Jokers wasn't actually a real active band. Their albums were all recorded during acid sessions by some of the biggest names in the 1970's krautrock scene. Well known musicians such as Manuel Göttsching and Klaus Schulze of Ash Ra Tempel and Harald Grosskopf of Wallenstein were included on these records. And above all these records were released without the permission by the band itself.

But what's more important than the story behind these albums is the fact that the music found on these records is some of the best krautrock you'll ever hear. The material is highly trippy, druggy and jam band oriented krautrock with clear space rock elements. Especially the A-side kicks ass but the more ambient kind of B-side is just fantastic as well. This S/T album is considered to be their "debut" album and it's just mindblowing stuff all the way through. Put the lights out and listen to this with headphones and you'll experience some of the finest psychedelic/progressive/experimental music ever recorded.

Just done an update of Spalax CD issues here. Surprised no one has added the original Spalax issue in a card gatefold yet. BTW - complexities about the Spalax listings can be found here: Spalax - http://www.discogs.com/forum/thread/698829

Amazon is listing a new import version of this release (B008KSKSFG) - which by cross-searching to Amazon.de I have deduced as "Vinyl Lovers (Mag. Konstantin Drobil)" - anyone familiar with this label or LP? Following the "home country is better" rule I'm tempted to be the first to report back to Discogs about it. P.S. I want this on the Master Release page but I am not referencing the Quad version as Discogs is automatically showing. thanks!

long overdue reissue. sleeve and vinyl are of high quality, but it would be interesting to know what the source for this pressing was, as it is a bit noisy.
