I got one of the fourth pressings and it sounds phenomenal. Almost no surface noise, zero clicks and pops, and rich, full, tight sound. Both discs are almost perfectly flat and centered. Excellent pressing. Excellent score. I got this from a UK seller. How come this can travel all the way from the UK to California and arrive in such pristine shape, yet 60% of records from Amazon, most of them coming from within the state, arrive damaged or at least severely warped? Boggles the mind. Anyway, if you find a copy of the fourth pressing (it says on the hype sticker) you're good to go. Love this record.

In regards of previous comments, I didn't experienced noise related issues. Nice gate-fold, incredibly creative and original music, the colored vinyls are opaque yellow with white traces, not everyone taste, but the texture doesn't look cheap, it's a nice item, I'm glad I've grabbed a copy.

The Music:
This soundtrack is phenomenal. In my opinion, it is one of the most unique, creative and engaging TV soundtracks I've ever heard.

The Pressing:
It is bad. My pressing is one of the second batch of 500 pressed onto yellow vinyl. The biggest problem I have with mine is that it is pressed slightly off centre. As a result, it suffers sonically (particularly near the centre) and I also have a skating issue at the beginning of side (a). There is definitely more surface noise than is 'reasonable.' I'm not sure if I'd say it 'ruins' the listening experience but it's certainly noticeable during quiet passages. To top it all of, the gatefold sleeve was stuck together and ruined some of the print when I opened it. The centre labels were scuffed also.

All-in-all, whatever was done during the pressing of this record was done without care or attention. Such a shame.

I have 3 questions for owners of Utopia:

1. are all 3 pressings on yellow vinyl?
2. anyway to differentiate the pressings?
3. is one of the pressings more noisy than others?

Thanks! I want to buy a copy of this asap.

Okay. My twopence. The pressing on this is no way near as bad as some here make out. The mastering is good, no compression. There is very light noise in the quiet parts but they in no way spoil the enjoyment of listening to this. This is my spin on it played on LP12 with dynavector DV20x2.

Pressing has light surface noise. Disappointing particularly since this was a very expensive release from Silva Screen. The mastering is good- pressing is very dynamic and sounds great in the loud parts. But the vinyl is noisy.

This version unfortunately suffers from a high amount of surface noise, which is really disappointing and distracting during the quieter moments of this soundtrack. My experience with coloured pressings has normally been better than this, except for the Warp Records coloured pressings (which are notorious for sounding terrible). Hopefully this isn't a pressing issue, and a black vinyl version will fix the problem.
