Anselmo's production nailed the band's guitar tone on this classic Crowbar LP. A definite step in the right direction from the debut (which was brilliantly groundbreaking in its own right, but the production here transcends the work on 'Obedience Through Suffering'), this LP carries the same heavy feeling of defeatist misery, Sabbath-esque doooom, as well as metal flourishes that make the LP seem like a sleep paralysis nightmare, and well done touches of punk bands like Flipper, and even some good ol' fashioned hardcore. This a depressive masterwork ideal for crying alone in the dark and / or stabbing a clown to death with a screwdriver.
