A shines more light on "Yaaah!" while B focuses a bit more on "Techno Trance." Both versions are strong, chunky, and nearly identical. However, B is the weapon. Use it wisely.

So, it's 1990. I walk into Crash! Records in Leeds (a more or less weekly excursion for me at the time), and I ask the assistant if they have any good new vinyl.

So she hands me a pile of new stuff, including a few local tunes.

But I wasn't familiar with this label yet, so I asked "Is it bleepy?"*** - the girl behind the counter replied "haha, no, but it's really good".

All of a sudden, all that New York Garage and Chicago House seemed completely irrelevant and dated.

28 years later, and this record still means as much to me as it did nearly 30 (!) years ago.

As others have mentioned, a complete game-changer.

Thankfully, useless narcissistic bearded hipsters clearly don't know about it, as it still goes for hardly anything at all!

Fortunately, I'm one of those people who know the difference between value and price - and this one's better value than Tesco Value, that's for sure :)

*** well, it was 1990. lol

This is one of the summer tracks of 1990 and got me into the clubscene/rave scene, I remember when I bought it, the same day as the mackenzie a rhythm shot/higher in the sky. These tracks still give me shivers. 1990 for me saw the releases of some extraordinary releases in electronic music 🙌

This will be forever in my thoughts as probably 1 of the best 1990 techno rave tunes ever made, absolutely amazing B1 side, Techno Trance (Paradise Is Now) every old skool gig should be putting this one on the decks, this is what it was all about. certainly makes me feel like pulling gurning faces, HA HA.

27 years - that's right. Actually (this comment written 11/02/2018) nearly 28 years and counting as it was first released circa very early spring 1990! And Techno Trance (Paradise Is Now) still sounds absolutely amazing. Every time I listen to this track I get severe goose bumps on overdrive. In fact, without listening to it, just by thinking about it I feel excitement. Real game changer for the times this was without question.

This is where my Techno & Trance journey started in1990. Up until then, it was House & Acid House. I still love it all. But this tune was a game changer. I'll never forget the first time I heard it. Thank you D-Shake!

The best version of Techno Trance is the original "Paradise Is Now" on the original Go Bang! Records release. Without question really. Just an absolute stormer. And it's TECHNO btw, NOT trance. Even if it happens to be in the title. And however much it was played or some may think overplayed, there's no way a track that massive was ever going to be underplayed. Much like GTO's "Pure (Energy)" on Go Bang! It was played for too damn good a reason imo, because it absolutely, undeniably rocks! It really should've been an A side track though.

These remixes arranged slightly differently here but keep the main gist of the original and still have their place in a set. Overall a bit more DJ friendly than Paradise Is Now.

However, I'm not going to concentrate on the remixes of 'Techno Trance'. The hidden gem imo is AA1 - The ORR Some Remix of Yaaah. Yes, the original was overplayed at the time imho and became quite commercial, I think it charted, even in the UK IIRC. It even sounded more commercial. But this remix which happens to only be found on this Cooltempo pressing from the UK sheds an altogether different light to said track.

Still retains the "wooh, c'mon" samples. But is sparcer and less compressed. Leaves out the four to the floor present on the original with the beats arranged into a freestyle / electro style rhythm. Utilising an 808 distorted bass kick sound every 2 beats and a droning sound on the off beat which I suspect may have been sampled from RSW's 'Ozone Breakdown' (originally from an early Heaven 17 track? The name escapes me), together with other originally made drum machine sounds and a brand new, deep bassline. Overlayed with simple, dark but epic chords.

This was played on the UK pirates but the DJ's always chose not to give track details. Not sure why, as this release wasn't exactly obscure. Whatever the reason, a much underrated and underplayed, underground warehouse classic if ever there was one.
