Потрясающий альбом, ради такого стоит купить диск и наслаждаться им снова и снова. Спустя 1.5 года не перестает удивлять.

If extreme metal is no more considered as a static and one-dimensional genre (simple liberation of repressed raw violence) we owe it to musicians such as Yusaf Parvez (Vikotnik) that during their career had always gone beyond those "Pillars of Hercules" imposed by the genre, molding obscure and heavy music in absolutely inedited shapes (let’s think about a masterpiece as Written in Waters by Van Buens Ende, in which Vikotnik was protagonist). Eight years after the previous album (and 16 from the previous one again), assisted by the return of Aldrahn at the voice, he comes back with his Dødheimsgard, with an album that can be considered as a further step forward for the most experimental heavy music. A Umbra Omega is a crazy run in a labyrinth of mirrors, an estranging and stunning opus in which the frost of North European black metal floats adrift like an iceberg in a psychedelic ocean. Progressive opus in its most pure essence, the fifth full length album by Dødheimsgard is ambitious, refined, cerebral: yet, despite its complexity, it fascinates and ravishes from the very beginning because of its mysterious atmosphere. Unlike many other albums - having in the use of electronic the cornerstone of the innovation of black metal roots - A Umbra Omega, with its classical metal instrumentation, enriched only by some sax or piano melodies, has got its originality in the fluid structures of the songs and in its melodic unpredictability. Psychotic and visionary, Dødheimsgard album is the demonstration that going beyond the extreme known limit is the way to lose ourselves and sometimes, as in this case, to come back with a Masterpiece.

Another in-depth, bizarre, and emotional journey from DHG... I wasn't sure what to expect upon first hearing they were releasing a new album nearly 8 years apart from "Supervillain Outcast"... but as a huge fan of them I was not disappointed whatsoever... Words can't really describe this piece musically, but if you're if familiar with this band I'm sure you won't be disappointed. Think of "666 International" with an avant-garde / modern twist & a splash of Ved Buens Ende... Not an album you can judge based on one sitting as even the most seasoned fans of experimental metal will take multiple listens to adjust to this brilliant madness... I'm glad Vicotnik and Aldrahn got back together as a fraction of the original line-up cause it did DHG and their following great justice, as "Supervillain Outcast" was a really good release imo, but this is DHG going back to their true form. Even though there are certain passages I wish they would have continued at a greater length, there's not really much I can say negatively towards this album; although the drums could have stood out more in the slower parts, as he's a really underrated drummer... Aside from the unique writing of Vicotnik's guitar-work, the thing that stood out most for me was Aldrahn's harrowing vocals. Not something I've said or appreciated in quite a while. Some range he has on this release. Enough already, listen to this shit religiously for days!
