Salinas is amasing!
I first heard it on Laurent Garnier's X-Mix - way back when, and immediately fell in love with it. She's a rough old bird, but she get's her point across beautifully.
Things kick off by means of a faded-in percussion, which actually isn't too far away from some kind of cosmic jig (I'm not kidding), and then it's time for a tripped-out lead line, accompanied by absolutely beautifull chords & one crazy flute (again, not kidding)! This all builds up to an amasing break down; which, by the time you get to it, doesn't really matter, as it's all about the journey on this one.
The breakdown is actually a little oddity in it's self, as it goes from being 'stereo' into 'mono'; I swear it does, and correct me if I'm wrong on that one, but the little rascal sounds like it does.
By the time you've reached the end of Salinas, you'll be utterly lost in it's Gaelic wonderment, and quite the better for it. It's a very, very unique little record, and still sounds just as incredible today as....
It was re-issued a couple of times on Taka and Music Man, but do yourself a favor and invest in this original on Happy Beach. There's also a couple of remixes out there too, but they don't come close...
An absolute little gem of a track.
