While the Trace RMX of A Better Place is a masterpiece to say the least. Total perfection and everyone who knows of these rmxs always rates this version. And with good reason... But, I absolutely have always loved Bay B Kane's RMX of this ... He did such an amazing job of this with the eerie synths, the perfection of the strings, the awesome use of the keys / bells (that's what they sound like to me?), and lastly those added female vocals puts that icing on the cake.. total gem and massively overlooked b/c of how good the Trace RMX is... And for this to be what he came up with while going up against the Trace masterpiece.. AMAZING! For that reason I always grab that copy to showcase for listeners b/c it tends to go unnoticed and therefore unheard by the majority of the jungle massive listeners... Dj's/ Producers may know it, but it deserves to be heard by a larger audience than just those who know it. Trace's version still to this day gets a decent amount of rotation, but I very rarely hear the BBK version spun. Nothing but love for the Godfather Don Datta BBK... a true innovator to the Jungle Scene.. still rolling to this day keeping it old skool and rugged, yet moving forward with the era..

But all these versions of this songs are epic, timeless, perfectly produced jungle. One of the best tunes in the genre (all versions). Nuff said.

The Trace Remix of "A Better Place" is just amazing. The first time I heard it, it sounded familiar yet different from the mix I previously heard of this track. It's such a dark brooding amen track that just sucks you in with its moody strings. I usually don't like 'ardkore this moody but this one really grabs me and I love it! Another interesting thing about this track is how much it sounds like the tracks on Trace's Torque album. This track is basically No-U-Turn techstep but back in 1993 (check out the moody strings in Trace & Nico "Damn Son"). It's just another fine example that nearly every idea in dance music was already flushed out by 1993. I love learning about this music and how it evolved. On the downside however, I saw Trace preform at NASA 20yr in Brooklyn NY a few years back. He didn't play this music at all... He played Dance Conspiracy Dub War, Acen Trip to the Moon, then he stopped and played modern house music for the rest of the set.... and he was known for dark amen rollers like this masterpiece.... what a shame.

essential for anyone who likes emotion in their music....the Trace mix is the one,but the other tracks on this are not to bemissed either...Tamsins pads and are epic yet don't feel as if they are being rammed into ones ears instead they provide a real atmosphere that Trace uses to full effect with the relentless bass and amen almost shuffling along over it...for the SERIOUS Junglist with an ear for quality....I got mine for three English quids in '97 from Flip records in Shrews...I saw it being advertised for Sixty around about '04 on HTFR website I would say the one on here is under priced tbf....
