after hours: the start of the repetitive but never tiresome dj trace structural formula that was later responsible for some of the best drum & bass tracks ever made (e.g.: 29th & south, liberty 1, sonar, etc.)

Well! What can you say? A double A sider from the legendary dj trace , both tracks employ simple jazz licks to great effect over tough two step beats and deep basslines so typical of the era. After Hours in particular has great atmospherics hovering in the background throughout which certainly add to the mood. Yes, tracks like this may have heralded a departure from the fun of jungle into more 'musical' territory, but this track (along with 'going gets tough' by Lemon D of the same year) chose to groove rather than noodle with it's jazz influence.
