Truly cross cultural, Cairo is an electronic and traditionally played patchwork of eastern melodies driven along by a solid beat backed up with counter rhythms provided by eastern and oriental hand percussion. Dealing with immigrant isolation, the lyrics seem to take a swipe at two level game
diplomacy post Camp David and are powerfully delivered. The rich and carefully layered production by eminent Egyptologist, David Rohl is a fine feature and is especially evident on the beautifully haunting additional track on this maxi single, ‘Something on the Wind’ which features sweeping string synths and fretless bass.
