Daniel Ibbotson picks the pace somewhat on his third album -- but the melodic quality and the classic production value remain unchanged. Indeed, FREQUENCY AND PHASE has some more solid club tracks, like "Celebrate" and "PSI," but the more laidback house of "Flourescent" and "Coming to Get You" are the ones that will haunt you later. The best track on the album -- possibly the best track of Ibbotson's career thus far -- is "Things Change." An uplifting and beautiful track, it uses the same sample as Ian Pooley's "What's Your Number," but takes it in a completely different direction. Just goes to show how artists can take the same inspiration with wildly diverse results.
