'Said The Spider' made its way into the hands of a few mainly London based jocks via dub plate, and wet appetites at pioneering nights like FWD>> with hardcore bleeps & that ill bassline... It's following release on Texture was overseen by Ammunition, who were a driving force behind the early dubstep movement. Additional track 'Elevate' is a great example of a less obvious theme, welding a more jazzy sensibility to the breakstep template, while still sounding futuristic as f&£k. Perhaps the definitive pinnacle in Oris Jay's repertoire, it flew off the shelves & was not easy to come by soon after its release. 15 years later & it's not aged a wink. With so much attention on dubstep over the last few years (always takes the media YEARS to cotton on to a scene that 1st time around came & went in a flash) garage breaks is now almost unchartered territory by comparison, making it, and this 12" in particular, my preferred sound in a now over-saturated genre.
