I wouldn't recommend this record to everyone. There are some gems on here if you can get over the 80's sound. Gilmour's previous self titled release was a decent record and this is a great follow up. I think there is more variety of styles and songs compared to the previous record. I only recently started listening to About Face and find myself liking it more and more. There are moments that give hints on what is to come from his best solo release On an Island. Hardcore Pink Floyd vans may or may not like this record, but if you are a David Gilmour fan and like A Momentary Lapse of Reason and Division Bell this sort of falls in line with them but a bit simpler.

Anyone help, seems there are two label types to the UK pressing Standard Green/Yellow harvest with black artist text as here. Another with all text being green giving a more green appearance o the label. Any ideas???

I'm sure Gilmour had Mark Knopfler's "Going Home: Theme of the Local Hero" on his mind when composing "Cruise". I think Floyd tended to sound like Dire Straits in the '80s even on The Final Cut with Roger Waters still leading the group e.g compare "Two Suns in the Sunset" with "Tunnel of Love".
