The music on these two CD's are very average, with the 2nd offering slightly more of what Padilla would play for the crowd but neither coming close to displaying the power and force that he exhibited which was truly legendary and in many ways revolutionary for the trance genre and EDM, in general. While Europe had their fun in the 90's few ever got to hear the magic that Padilla worked so often during a solid 3 year span. Truly an anomaly, considering the circumstances surrounding Trance, as a new untapped genre of music, and also Miami (South Beach) along with the electronic scene in the USA as a whole. It was way ahead of it's time and probably could have become larger in a different place and time combined with that rare friendly club atmosphere. It must be said that this CD set will NOT represent much about THE MIX to anyone who never attended.

Those who were at the hole in the wall between 14th & 15th street & Washington Ave. on South Beach called THE MIX from 1998-2000 had an "experience" that few people have ever known. While not always positive to some, to a very select group known as PookieHeads, it was a small slice of heaven. Dare I compare it to a phenomena such as Woodstock? Maybe, but probably not. Undoubtedly, it was a strange place with strange people doing strange things listening to strange music all the while providing a rare situation for those who can look back at that time & place and know that it will never be duplicated or copied ever again.... kind of like Woodstock?
