There are rumors that VMP is doing a pressing of this for their Essentials ROTM (basically all of the clues they've given out point to this + one of the members confirmed that there was a 30th anniversary pressing in the works in a reply to someone on Instagram.)
Their ROTMs will be formally announced on the 26th, so here's hoping we get this.

How do they fit so many songs on the one LP? Is there something I'm not getting? Because the reissue is full on two 33s. Can someone explain?

Track A13 "Potholes In My Lawn" is not on the A-side on my OG release from 1989...BUT the label said so,
it's on the B-side after B10 "D.A.I.S.Y. Age"...B11, Does anyone have the same "problem" ?

So it seems that this is now impossible to get on vinyl without paying highly inflated prices. Such a shame.

For many people '3 Feet High And Rising' is/was/always will be a life changing, hugely influential record. My own childhood & following path would have taken a dull turn, had it not been for this alien transcript of sample odyssey ghetto pop- art. Prince Paul (& the magic 3) should be in the Rock N Roll hall of fame for this, yet rarely gets a mention. Genius is too milder a word...

As for the sonics/mastering etc (the subject of many gripes) & the LP's relative worth;

When this dropped in 1989, it quickly went on to take the entire planet by storm, largely due to crossover Pop hits like 'Eye- Know', 'The Magic Number', 'Buddy' and 'Me Myself And I'. Couple this with an absolutely NUTS scope of sample choices, & no one had heard anything like this before, even in Hip-Hop. It made something completely new from old, a feat not easily executed nor repeated. So in short, the value of this version, more specifically the 1st release, is it's place in history as a marker for practically changing the entire music industry. Crank it up loud, enjoy the crackle (it fits perfectly; vintage record samples = crackle, I would't be surprised if it was done on purpose) & rest assured this is one of the most important records of all time, regardless of imperfections.

In fact, it's the imperfection that makes this so soulful...

So for anyone interested, I received my twin LP copy of 3 feet high and rising. Compared to the single vinyl release from 1989, it is so much better. It is recorded at a much higher volume, and does not have any crappy, distortion noise when you turn the volume up on it. Time to sell off my "OG" copy in favour of my newer copy.

I am thinking of buying the recently released 2 lp version. I have the uk 1989 release on vinyl and it is terrible. Recorded at a low volume and when you turn the volume up, it distorts. The only way to rectify this is to drop the bass out, and then it sounds tinny. Anyone asking premium price for an OG release of this on vinyl is not doing anyone any favours if they are the same press as mine. I have the cd and it sounds great. Does anyone know if the reissues or represses have fix this issue on the vinyl versions ?

This is classic! The only gripe I have is the mixing of this LP, and how this was not originally spread out on 2 LP's. The grooves are very tight, hence you loose dynamic range for the breadth of this Album. very low volume, and due to that, when you try to compensate by turning it up, you get alot of hiss. I have a double LP reissue, and it does not seem to rectify this (was it mastered from the original LP?) would like to see a proper reissue on 2LP's with a better mix. The 1989 CD suffers from the same low dynamic range too. So, maybe it's in the master mix?
