The first De-Phazz album shows the roots of the sound he would develop in his later albums: a swinging, free-wheeling, jazzy style. He dabbles with ambient sounds and drum 'n' bass rhythms, but it doesn't come together as neatly as it should. He does use, however, Barbara Lahr's vocals to great effect on "Good Boy." Other standout tracks include "Cut the Jazz," "Hero Dead and Gone," and "Lullaby."
