I wonder if he’ll do a 10th anniversary vinyl for this.
Spoilers, he didn’t.

For me this is the best Progressive House album of all time. I've listened to it front to back well over 100 times, whether it's when I'm going for a run or to go to sleep. It's a totally cohesive masterpiece and something that Joel hasn't managed to emulate even remotely since 2008

Though, I am currently out of Deadmau5's area of Electronic music, I still like this album. Though it is not amazing like albums such as "Robert Miles - Dreamland", "Burial - Untrue", or "Trentemoller - The Last Resort" it is still a good album to have if you are into different and modern forms of House music.

Pros: Good sounding timbres, catchy hooks, thick atmosphere on some songs, and good for dancing.

Cons: Same tempo (128bpm) and kick drum pattern on all tracks.

Deadmau5's decent first album, before he became overwhelmingly commercial. "I Remember" gets all the attention, but the instrumental tracks "Not Exactly", "Slip", "Faxing Berlin", and "Arguru" are better.

I know just uttering his name in certain circles insights a lynch mob of angry townsmen wielding pitch forks and torches, but I'm going to put my head down and try and get a review out there.

First off, I've never been much of a fan of Deadmau5. Yes, he had a few very catchy tunes that were hard to dislike, but after a while his productions seemed very formulated, contrived, and predictable. Not exactly what most DJ is looking to add to their record box.

I'm a SUCKER though and I admit it. I wanted to give the silly rodent headed Canadian the benefit of the doubt, and I bought his album. It arrived to my door this past Friday and I sat and looked at it all weekend. Not listened. Only looked. The suspense was getting to me and I thought I was going to have something to list up on eBay.

So finally today (Tuesday) I had a bunch of errands to do, so I was going to be in the car for a while... I begrudgingly grabbed 'Random Album Title" off of my desk and went about my day.

To make a long story just a little shorter, I was VERY impressed with the quality of tunes on this disc. It wasn't one trite-in-your-face-paedophile-tune after another followed by a few lowest common denominator tech tunes for good measure.... it was something much more progressive. It has a nice flow to it... It grooves it's way through the length of the album quite nicely. The tracks seem really well placed on the album and sequenced together in a clean, uncompleted manner. I'm totally giving Deadmau5 a thumbs up on a job well done on this album... even though it pains me to do it.

So even if you aren't a huge Deadmau5 fan, I'd still say you should at least give it a listen. I love it when an album catches me by surprise, and This one did just that!
