I used to religiously buy Equinox Records (RIP) product. I was even partial to the odd bundle. If it didn’t include floppy discs(?!) or 7”s. This Unheard & Recovered Vol. 1 was produced between 2000 and 2005. It contains the finest as dope as you can get head nodding beats.
Deckard has a nice sound. A cross between Kraftwerk and DJ Muggs.
This album could be a soundtrack to a futuristic crime drama. Decaying cityscapes, wastelands that were once towns, locals full of despair. Or am I simply describing austerity Europe? Anyway, you get the idea. In that sense it’s a rare thing. An album that’s well put together, well arranged. Not one of those albums that’s feels like a collection of individual tracks. Dare I call this is a concept album? Well whatever this album is about it’s a ‘lovely’ journey that you are taken on. Even if the picture I’ve just painted is actually quite depressing come to think of it.
