Following up ‘I Feel Loved’ was never gonna be a stroll across the dancefloor, perhaps one of the best club records of the year, and certainly the best remix, but with a no-expense-spared support cast on hand ‘Freelove’ is assembled to do battle. The posse of remixers to investigate a variety of more trendy ideas, with Deep Dish, Josh Wink and Powder Productions taking care of the house headz, while DJ Muggs, Console and Bertrand Burgalat add their distinct breakbeat flavaz. DC’s finest come closest to replicating Tenaglia’s touch with a tripped out house soundscape ripe for Dave Gahan monotone verses and perfect for the dark drums generation. Elsewhere Wink adds his trademark burbling bassline and the Powder boys get twisted. ‘Freelove’ keeps the fires burning.
