Just bought it, lower price (probably because of the 2017 release).
Earlier I've been told not to buy the contemporary DM reissues as they were supposed to sound flat and lack in details.
Well, that's not true, with this one at least.
Very nice, full sound, a very quiet record.
I'm really surprised by its quality.
The one and only con is that the record is slightly warped.
It doesn't affect the sound though.

Ultra was produced with the help of producer Tim Simeon on the tail end of some pretty severe personal problems for Depeche Mode’s lead vocalist, Dave Gahan. His heavy drug addiction had severely affected his personal life and the band in general. At one point Martin Gore had contemplated breaking up the band and pursuing a solo career. In mid-1996, after a near fatal overdose, Gahan entered a court ordered drug rehabilitation program to battle his severe cocaine-heroin addiction. After completing his rehab, and with the help of Simeon, Ultra was produced. The album debuted at No. 1 in the UK (as well as Germany), and No. 5 in the US. The album was certified gold on August 7th, 1997. The band did not tour in support of the album because the band did not feel fit enough, especially with Gahan was just out of rehab.

Ultra is the ninth studio album by Depeche Mode and was the band's first since the departure of Alan Wilder, who had left the band in 1995 having become disillusioned with life in Depeche Mode. This is their first album as a trio since 1982's A Broken Frame, along with it being their first album where the band themselves were not involved with production. Musically Ultra is a fairly relaxed and laid-back incarnation of Depeche Mode, although there are a couple of more exciting numbers like “Barrel Of A Gun” and “It’s No Good”. Ultra is a solid album; but it lacks the intensity of some of their earlier work—there’s nothing here that makes you really want to tear up the dance floor. Regardless I love anything Depeche Mode produces and this album is no exception.

This Music On Vinyl pressing of Ultra was beautifully produced (Tim Simenon), mastered (Simon Heyworth) and pressed (Recording Industry) on 180g audiophile-grade vinyl. It came in a nice gatefold jacket with a 12” credit & lyric sheet. The record had an average signal level (-6.0 dB) and was dead whisper quiet, with virtually no surface noise, clicks or pops. As other users have noted this release, like most Music On Vinyl releases, does not appear to be plagued by heavy-handed dynamic range compression.

I gave this album 4 out of 5 stars.

Maybe I wasn't so lucky becasue replaced the vinyl twice already with bad pressing and looped - once on side B, now on side A just after half of the first song. Going to replace it again and see if they're able to give me good pressing. Mastering is fine and sound good, but pressing really bad! Stay away.

Excellent release, much more dynamic mastering than what's available on the CD or SACD (obvious on "Freestate" drums, for example), It's probably Depeche Mode's most organic record, so the improvement sounds really important to me.

Also, the MOV 2014 doesn't have the noisy pressing issues that my 2007 vinyl has.
