Synth pop, symbol of 80s music, reaches one of its maximum apex at the dawn of the new decade with the seventh Depeche Mode album: just a second before the sound of distorted guitars swept away the entire genre. Intimate and mysterious, Violator bans romantic excesses and dives into introspective music of the new era. Thanks to skillful sound finish realized by Flood, Violator projects Depeche Mode into the future, while connecting them to their ancestors (Heroes by David Bowie, for example). A dark flow sliding in perfect equilibrium among immediate melodies, complex arrangements, addictive rhythmic and charming atmospheres. If we had to find the killer of synthetic 80s sounds, maybe we would discover that he is not only the alternative rock, but also the abysmal depth of Violator.
