Excellent music, great flow, wonderful use of quality artwork, and - in this time of generally appalling record pressing - records pressed superbly, as they always should be!

If this were a Warp release from 93/94 everyone would be going nuts over this now. Really excellent compilation which truly works as a whole album, top marks to both Carr and the label.

In the early 2000s Derek Carr's notoriety for producing high fidelity techno was understated and unbefitting to the quality of his musical output. In 2016 For Those That Knoe initiated an acclaimed series of EPs which showcased unheard material alongside some long lost vinyl only classics from Derek's archive. Cut to now and the imprint has put together something truly special: a raid on dusty record shelves have been traded for one into the binary world, For Those That Knoe has selected 17 recordings only previously available on the digital format or previously unreleased, now remastered and pressed onto physical form.

I have been following Derek Carr since "red" appeared on a Headspace UK compilation record in 2003. That song was so good Derek Carr became one person I continued to collect through the years. It wasnt till around 2015 did it see people starting to really notice what Derek was doing. In 2015 I reluctantly jumped on Facebook because it seemed like the best place I could catch up with music friends and artists who were around who's music I enjoyed. Derek and I struck up a friendship and often chatted about music. i think he was taken back at how much I liked his music. In late 2015 i bought about 10 of his Digital Space cd's, 10 or so copies of Home and another 10 or so of Binary Son and gave them to friends for Christmas as a present. I wanted to spread the love of what Derek was doing. To me, it reminded me of the best of Future Beat Alliance, Stasis, D5, B12 and others that i was so big into in 2003. He seemed to effortlessly nail song and after song on these cds. His earlier work got featured on some labels in the past couple years and all his records shot up in price. And while that was happening I really lost track of what Derek had been up to. Why? It wasnt because he didnt put out excellent new music. It was just because for me, those cds meant so much to me. I played them all the time. I made many friends from Derek's music. Those were being played so much that I didnt catch up with his work till the last few months. Well now you have some of the best off those cds as well as a couple off his debut cd and even some unreleased ones. You still should go back and get those cds for all the songs. They may never be on vinyl after this nicely chosen vinyl comp but you still need them. I am happy to see Derek get so much attention lately. He is really that talented. Again, still go back and get his full length cds if you can so you have all his 2002-2015 work and then you can start with his vinyl only releases.
