OK, so Our Reservation made this record famous. And indeed, with the guitar riff, the hardcore kickdrum and the unforgettable chant, it was bound to be a winner. If nothing else, seeing hundreds upon hundreds of party-goers bang the Rave-fist and scream long "Yeeeeeeeeeaaaaaah-haa!" every time this got played sure did leave an imprint.
Yet, the treasure here is Resurrection. Desperation did not fear stretching it out and took their time to say what they had to say with this one: when tracks were seldom longer than six minutes, this one clocks out after twelve... and the first half is merely the beatless introduction. For minutes, it slowly develops around the Acidline, layers add up, the tension builds up. No screeching squelch is to be expected here, no heroic knob tweakings, no extreme aggressivity. On the contrary, the 303 is monotonously focused on the lows and subtle in change. Still, its enthralling whir warms up one's soul like an eighteen-year-old single malt.
