Upon purchasing this 7" I had zero expectations about the sound of 'Device,' only knowing that DSS Records releases some top quality music. It was quickly apparent that they did not fall short on this release, either. This is some of the more complicated musical work I have heard as of late, providing very unique vocals and masterly layered sounds. The basslines throughout all of the tracks are very unique and versatile with the percussion setting a speedy pace through each track. Trumpets are incorporated, accenting the gruff vocals and handiwork of the bass and are in no way pretentious or out of place -- this is one of the few instances where a trumpet seems natural and belonging to the harder sounds of rock.

It is hard to claim this as a genre of any music, but rather, it is a genre unto itself with shoegazer intricacy to the tracks and unique time sigantures, ska interludes, and the exuding style of punk coming through. The combination of all of these factors give Device an extremely distinctive and unique sound, breathing life and a new found style into music. Overall, Jump The Track was one of my better purchases as of late, and Device will definitely stand out in my mind.
