This was the single off Diamond Shell's album that received some airplay and attention from Yo! MTV Raps in 1991. The backing track and chorus are a direct reference via sample and theme to "December, 1963 (Oh, What a Night)", a 1975 hit by Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons. Diamond Shell isn't a particularly gifted rapper — neither lyrically nor vocally — and his voice has a strangely soft edge to it that makes it all sound mumbled somehow (which is maybe why the vocals are brought so high in the mix?) Maybe it was recorded poorly. Since we really only have the one album to judge him by, it's impossible to say whether production or performance is to blame. Biz does his thing on the chorus, warbling his off-key way through the rewritten Four Seasons hook. All in all, there's something oddly charming about this song as a whole, even though it's really just not that good in any definitive way. I suspect it got play back in the day based mostly on Biz's singing being reminiscent of "Just A Friend" and the fact that Diamond Shell. is Biz's brother. You want the kid to do alright, you know? The janitor album cover is a nice touch.
